At GC Dance, our Pre-Teen & Teen Lyrical & Contemporary class is designed for dancers aged 10–14 who are ready to take their movement, technique and performance to the next level.
Lyrical and contemporary dance gives dancers the opportunity to explore emotion, storytelling and individual expression through movement. As dancers get older, we encourage them to develop a deeper connection to the music and choreography, learning how to communicate feelings and tell a story through their performance.
Classes include a variety of technical exercises, stretches, floor work, travelling movements, turns, balances and choreography, helping dancers build strength, flexibility, control, coordination and musicality. These skills support their development across all styles of dance while giving them a strong foundation in lyrical and contemporary technique.
We also focus on movement quality and dynamics, teaching dancers how to change the way they move to create different emotions, textures and moods. Dancers will be encouraged to explore their own individuality and develop confidence in the way they interpret and perform choreography.
As they progress, we want our dancers to become not only stronger and more technically skilled, but also more expressive and thoughtful performers. This class allows them to challenge themselves, explore their creativity and build a genuine connection with dance, music and performance.
Most importantly, our aim is to create a supportive environment where dancers feel comfortable expressing themselves, trying new things and discovering their own unique style.
